After completing the course, participants will be able to safely select, correctly deploy and use PPE against falls from a height in event technology.

The seminar also includes special first aid measures in the event of suspension trauma and after falls.

In particular, the right measures are essential in the event of suspension trauma, as standard procedures in the event of unconsciousness can lead to serious injury or even death.

Theory

• Selecting the necessary PPE and its components based on the risk assessment and operating instructions
• Know the proper use of PPE against falls from a height
• Know the requirements for storage, maintenance and testing of PPE against falls from a height
• Knowing the physical principles of falling from a height
• Observe information on orthostatic shock (suspension trauma)
• Behavior in the event of accidents

Practice

• Selecting, adjusting and putting on PPE
• Carry out a visual inspection of the PPE before use
• Use of PPE in different work situations (especially workplace positioning)
• Mastering the typical work knots for PPE
• Securing to specified anchor points or fall arrest systems
• Mastering basic self-rescue techniques

The seminar can be credited towards the expert for event rigging SQQ 2 | Level 1.

Expert for the use of personal protective equipment against falls from a height

Prerequisites:

• No experience in climbing or PPE necessary
• Please bring your own protective equipment to the course.
• First aid course
• Occupational health check-up – work with a risk of falling (formerly G41)
• Please do not provide evidence older than 24 months!
• Non-employed participants require accident insurance.
